Adult Cryptolaemus lay their eggs among the mealybugs and may feed on them as well. Eggs hatch in about 2 weeks and Cryptolaemus larva feed on mealybug colonies until they are fully developed. The larva then pupate for 3-10 days before emerging as adults. Insecticides and ants disrupt the effectiveness of this predator. Does best at temperatures above 70°F.
