Scale Predator

Adult Lindorus are small with a velvety black wing cover and a deep reddish-orange head, thorax and abdomen.  Larva are grey, alligator-shaped with light-colored bands running lengthwise along the abdomen.  Adults lay hundreds of eggs under scales.  The eggs hatch in about a week and the larva feed on the scale eggs and crawlers.  Adults feed on both hard and soft scale and mealybug crawlers.  These beetles are extremely voracious
